Now I don’t fancy myself a Mike Olbinski or Scott Wood, or any of the amazing storm chasing/lightning shooting photogs out there, but I couldn’t resist stopping for my first attempt at capturing lightning. I was on my way home from an evening of shooting at the Calgary Stampede, and the lightning strikes were coming quite frequently all the way home. I knew there was a decent spot I could hit just down the street from my house where our new community ends, so I made way there as quickly as possible to set up. While on my way there, I was wracking my brain trying to remember as many details from Mike’s great lightning photography tutorial post, and I think I remembered just enough to be dangerous. These are by no means spectacular, but I thought they were worth sharing anyway 🙂
DUDE……………wooo! Congrats, it’s so much fun and addicting 🙂
Awesome Heath! I got my first one ever last night and Mike is right it is addicting!
I think these are great shots!
These are surely awesome Heath! I love that second one, the spiderweb look is so cool!
WOW! These are great dude! I especially love the second one!!
These are awesome! I still haven’t gotten the chance to attempt this, will have to at some point – maybe we’ll get a storm when you come to NYC!
Very nicely done! This and the tutorial will surely inspire me to try this.
Nice job, Heath! I would love to give this a shot but, unfortunately, nature has stopped sending storms to Texas this year. I guess I’ll need to move north.
Totally impressive. Love the second shot with ominous tones in the cloud and fingerling lighting arcs.
Neat 🙂
Bravo, these are nasty. Really really well done!
WOW! Those definitely capture the massive energy of the storm last night. Good job;)
You made the attempt and you have the shots to prove it. That, in and of itself, is excellent. Rock on, dude!
Way to go Heath! These are great.
Excellent shots. Well done.
Great catches Heath – these are sweet!
