I don’t shoot these kind of details very often…mostly because I don’t have a lens with macro capabilities, but it’s fun to give it a try every now and then. I find having a lens with a very wide aperture helps out with shots like these as the selective focus and razor thin depth of field can add some drama and interest to an otherwise simple scene.
WOW! Absolutely love this one Heath. Great shallow DoF, wonderful dark and earthy colors, and awesome textures. Fantastic!
LOVE this shot Heath! Great use of the shallow depth of field in the fast 50. That narrow sharpness really grabs your eye! Awesome shot!
Sweet DOF and I really like the subtle colors in this shot!
Amazing detail! Nice work!
Nice bokeh and love the colors.
Excellent, Heath. There is something very elegant about the way you presented this shot.
Having one lens or another in most cases should not be a limit on your creativity – this is proof of that. Good job!
Nice on Heath! I like that you’ve been mixing up the style of your last several posts, i think thats really awesome.
You should do it more often – this is a great shot!
Love this. You’ve taken something rather plain and turned into something visually exciting. Great image, Heath!
Nice uses of the 50mm 1.4!! I love these kinds of shots more and more.

Great shot Heath! Love how the moss color ‘pops’!
Not much more I can add to everyone else’s comments, but Congrats on Lego Wars.
Really nice Heath! Great depth of field and I think the dark background adds to the mood as well.
Very cool shot Heath! Jim
Great image. You really nailed the DOF, well done.
