Sometimes you just get lucky.
The clouds during the sunset over Lake Minnewanka were just amazing – and sometimes you have to allow those clouds to be the main subject of your frame.
Equipment:
– Canon EOS 5D Mark II
– Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L
– B+W 77mm 10 stop ND Filter
That is simply stunning! The clouds certainly do frame the mountain perfectly!
Gorgeous! Did you use a ND filter on this?
The way the clouds are formed around the mountain is just stunning. Smart smart way to have them be the show piece with the darker mountains. This is amazeballs.
Talk about leading lines… That cloud is perfect!
Those clouds are glorious Heath and they make a great leading line.
Ugh, so jealous of this stuff…that motion and color is sick man.
I must take time out to visit this Lake next time I come up! Wonderful color in the sky!
Love that subtle movement in the clouds. Makes the whole shot IMO. Great work.
Holy. Shit. This is incredible man, I love the light/dark contrast, plus you couldn’t have asked for a better leading line with those clouds.
Perfect. Love the curve of the cloud around the mountains!
Sweeeeet!
Simply stunning, Heath. The colour of the clouds against the cobalt blue sky, underpinneed by the mountans and mirror like lake. Just amazing
Wonderful light and I love the way you’ve captured the light on the mountains. The cloud curling over the mountains is a special addition.
booyah!
Water has the sheen of iron oxide while the mountain tips glow with fire. Awesome.
Oh yeah, now this is the stuff! Gorgeous capture Heath!
you got nice clouds!!!
I love the movement. It’s almost like the spoke of a wheel flying overhead. Nice!
Very nice, Heath! You happy with the performance of that ND filter? (I’m guessing so by the quality of this shot).
