While in Hawaii earlier this year, my wife and I drove the famous ‘Road to Hana’ – but didn’t stop and turn around upon reaching the town like most people do. We took our rental vehicle all the back around the east/south end of the island, which apparently is not recommended for rentals 🙂 The road gets a bit bumpy and sketchy for a while, but it was well worth it as we found some great spots on the way back. Unfortunately I can’t remember off the top of my head if this black sand beach was before or after Hana, but I can tell you that I was absolutely amazed by it. I’d never seen a beach like this before and finding one was high on my list for our visit, so I couldn’t have been happier when we arrived here.

This is fantastic man – really vibrant colors and the footprints are a nice leading line.
This is just awesome man, I love the low POV and how you’ve caught the waves at the perfect moment. This is excellent.
Bringing back memories. I shot at this same beach. Love what you did here shooting the footprints in the sand leading right to the cliff. The bending palm tree is awesome.
Love the colors contrasted with the black sand! The footprints are a great addition and nice timing on that wave 🙂
Wow, sweeet shot my friend.
Amazing beach. We saw some fabulous black sand on the Big Island, but I still haven’t done the road to Hana. Nicely done.
Wow, crazy sand.
So beautiful. Wonderfully composed Heath.
Great leading line and color Heath
Great image heath! Love those footprints in the sand and those great clouds. Nice capture!
Very cool! I remember how amazed I was the first time I saw black sand beach in Hawaii. Love the foot prints! So artistic!
That is freakin cool! Sweet shot too. I would love to see that someday.
