Bump on a Log

Another shot from Marble Canyon today…but this time at the other end of the chasm. Tokumm Creek exits the deep canyon just to camera left, makes a 90 degree turn and continues its flow downstream. I spent a good 30 minutes at this location making long exposures and just enjoying the scenery.

Beautiful scene…love how you framed it.

Hans - May 26, 2011 - 7:18 am

Love the vertical framing in this shot and how the log leads you eye down stream. Well done!

Wow Heath this a beautiful shot. The comp is perfect with the mountains in the back.

Jason Hines - May 26, 2011 - 9:47 am

Absolutely brilliant image Heath. Unfortunately, your title reminded me of that “knot on the log in the whole in the bottom of the sea” song, so I’m going to have that stuck in my head all day…

Steve Beal - May 26, 2011 - 9:48 am

This looks like a book cover. I love the way the water fades into the pebbly shore line. Sweet.

Barbara Youngleson - May 26, 2011 - 9:53 am

Beautiful warm/cool tone contrast Heath. Love the gradual lead from shallow to deeper water and the mystery of what lies downstream.

Stunning composition, Heath! I really dig the alignment of elements; how the “V” wedge of the boulder mirrors a similar shape in the beautiful lake. Outstanding work, my friend.

Jerry Denham - May 26, 2011 - 7:46 pm

Without a doubt my favorite of yours Heath. Gorgeous color and treatment.

Jesse Pafundi - June 1, 2011 - 3:47 pm
