It’s slowly looking more and more like spring here in Calgary; the grass is starting to green up, and buds are beginning to appear on the trees. After such a long, cold, and snowy winter, it’s extremely relieving to see the weather finally starting to change. In the spirit of spring, I’ve decided to post a floral macro today. This was shot with my X100 in ‘macro mode’ which effectively decreases the minimum focus distance to enable close up shots. While it’s definitely not as impressive as a specialized macro lens, it’s not too bad for a small handheld.
Holy crap this is awesome!!! The colors, focus, light and DOF all work. I’m really picky about flower shots, but this is a true standout.

Nice! Really enjoying the shots from your new camera!
Wow, nice color pop and dof. The little hand held is holding its own.
Gorgeous!
Man, I am getting so envious of this new camera of yours. It is amazing at the stuff you’re snagging with it. This is a great macro shot.
What you need to do is contact Fujifilm and ask to be an ambassador for this camera. You are totally rocking the crap out of it. Another killer shot!
Nice! Makes me happy with the deluge of rain that’s been stuck over NYC the past few days!
That is an excellent image from a compact, well done, almost looks like a lensbaby was involved somewhere.
Dude… that’s crazy good for just a handheld camera. Really nice shot, never would have guessed it!
nicely done Heath!
This is great. I too have been impressed with the “macro” mode capabilities of some pocket size cameras.
I love the silky feeling you achieved. Looks fantastic!
Not bad at all. It’s pretty amazing the shots you can get with a simple camera once you know how to use it right! 🙂
Beauty image Heath! Love the soft look!
That’s a really nice macro! That X100 may have to be my next camera. Amazing DOF from this shot and really nice considering it was handheld.
Well done Heath! Love the DOF and the vibrant yellow. Very nice!
Very nice capture Heath. Output from the new cam looking good, congrats.
Nice Heath – I like the DOF here.
This is just outstanding, love the details here, awesome POV!
Another great image from this camera; like Chris I’m starting to become envious. Nicely done.
