The Fan

Back to a bit of urbex today. After processing my shot for Game 11 of HDR Tennis over on Facebook, I got a serious hankering to process some more gritty urbex. So, I trolled my images from California and found this shot of a fan in a small room in the abandoned diner I found. There wasn’t much room to get in close to it, so I decided on a wide framing that included a large portion of the door as a foreground element. I used FocalPoint in post processing to add the blur which helps draw your eye to the fan.

Nice – definitely a gritty urbex scene, that far wall is nasty! Like the subtle FP too.

Way to rock FocalPoint, dude. Very subtle application, yet it does wonders for drawing the eye to the desired location. This place looks delicious for UrbEx.

I’m digging the comp on this. I do like how the texture on the wood to the left is still somewhat visible, yet obscure enough to not detract from the point of interest. Nicely done!

Excellent! Bummed I missed out on the HDR Tennis brackets, got busy and forgetful the last week or two.

Love the moody brown/gold tones of the walls contrasting with the cool blues of the door and fan. Gloomy at its best!
