Palliser South – heath ofee dot com https://heathofee.com Sat, 30 Jul 2011 16:33:49 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 Daily Grind https://heathofee.com/2011/08/03/daily-grind-2/ https://heathofee.com/2011/08/03/daily-grind-2/#comments Wed, 03 Aug 2011 13:10:03 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2662 I see far too many moving staircases while at my 9-5. I figured it was time I captured one.

For what it’s worth, this was taken inside the Palliser South building, which has been featured quite prominently on my blog here, here, and here.

Palliser Detail https://heathofee.com/2011/07/11/palliser-detail/ https://heathofee.com/2011/07/11/palliser-detail/#comments Mon, 11 Jul 2011 13:10:21 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2720 I’ve shared photos of this building from a number of different angles, but I’ve never really showcased it as an abstract. The lines created by the window framing always catch my eye, and the colour of the glass is fantastic.

Monolith https://heathofee.com/2011/07/07/monolith/ https://heathofee.com/2011/07/07/monolith/#comments Thu, 07 Jul 2011 13:10:20 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2704 I think this is my favourite building in Calgary. It’s called Palliser South, and sits just south and east of the iconic Calgary Tower. It’s definitely not the tallest building in the city, nor does it have the most grand foyer, but there’s something about the lines of the exterior that just sucks me in. I find myself staring up at it every time I pass by…which is twice a day since I park just across the street from it. Shooting it from any angle just makes me happy.

I’ve posted much more complex compositions of this building in the past, but today I thought I’d go with something simple.

Iconic Reflection in Palliser South https://heathofee.com/2010/07/06/iconic-reflection-in-palliser-south/ https://heathofee.com/2010/07/06/iconic-reflection-in-palliser-south/#comments Wed, 07 Jul 2010 00:45:49 +0000 http://yycofee.wordpress.com/?p=799 Anyone who has been to Calgary knows that the most iconic building (to date) is, of course, the Calgary Tower. Although not the tallest tower in the city, its distinctive shape and red cap make it instantly recognizable. While walking back to my car from work a few weeks ago I noticed that on a clear day the Calgary Tower produces an almost full reflection of itself in the new Palliser South building…I instantly knew that I had to come back with my camera to capture the scene. Conveniently, the deadline for the 2010 Buildex Calgary Photo Competition was swiftly approaching and I wanted a couple extra photos to enter. So on my downtown photowalk a couple weeks ago I made sure to capture this really cool scene…hope you like it!
