So, if you’re ever in Calgary and are looking for a gorgeous spot for a photo sesh, look no further than The Reader Rock Garden. This place is UNREAL. I knew it existed and have driven past it countless times but had never been in until this past Sunday. Huge kudos to Richard for the suggestion!

There’s not much I can say about these two that isn’t evident in the photos below. They’re SO much fun and are completely in love with each other. Can’t wait to shoot their wedding later this summer ๐Ÿ™‚

Brian Furbush - June 7, 2012 - 9:22 am

DIG these – looks like an awesome shoot dude!

Jesse Pafundi - June 7, 2012 - 1:17 pm

Great sesh, you rocked this.

Navin Harish - June 14, 2012 - 11:27 pm

Briliant shots. I love the one with reflection

Adam Allegro - July 6, 2012 - 6:42 am

Well, these are just fantastic. Nice work. I really dig the processing!

I spent this past weekend in Whitefish, Montana with a group of boys from my office. I didn’t take any of my real camera gear with me, but I thought I might as well try to get a post worth of material using my iPhone – so that’s what you see below. All of the photos in this post were taken with my iPhone 4S and processed using VSCOCAM, which is far and away my favourite camera app these days.

Jesse Pafundi - May 30, 2012 - 10:13 am

Great post, man. Goes to show you can do serious work with any cam. First frame is the bee’s knees.

Pat - May 30, 2012 - 10:37 am

Love the post. Love how the story is told.

Chris Frailey - May 30, 2012 - 11:40 am

Digging the last frame.

Rick Louie - May 30, 2012 - 11:48 am

Awesome set! I love VSCOcam!

Chris DeAngelis - May 30, 2012 - 11:52 am

Awesome job with just the iPhone. It really looks like film scans here ๐Ÿ™‚ As usual, great eye!

Justin Kern - May 30, 2012 - 12:54 pm

Mighty fine set whether it was with a DSLR or the iPhone!

Navin Harish - May 30, 2012 - 10:41 pm

Great shots

Justin Balog - May 31, 2012 - 8:19 am

Nothing beats a good iPhone run…digging the game play shot.

Curt Fleenor - June 6, 2012 - 7:54 pm

Wow, what a set Heath! VSCOCam is the stuff, loving what it can do.

Those Eyes

I’m sure all the parents out there will agree with me when I say that newborns change so quickly! It seems like every day Rory becomes a slightly different little girl and it’s so cool to see. She’s starting to be a whole lot more aware and she flashes her beautiful eyes at us all the time now. How can you not love those!

Jesse Pafundi - May 17, 2012 - 8:17 am

Absolutely beautiful, man.

Chris DeAngelis - May 17, 2012 - 8:18 am

Adorable! The magic of that 35L…

Brian Furbush - May 17, 2012 - 9:09 am

Eden - May 17, 2012 - 11:32 am

So sweet!

Rebecca - May 17, 2012 - 3:01 pm

First of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Many thanks!

Jim Denham - May 17, 2012 - 7:39 pm

What a beauty Heath! You guys are blessed for sure!

Stephanie Scott - May 17, 2012 - 8:09 pm

Love this! <3

Can’t agree with you more on what you have said about babies chaning so quickly. She is looking so lovely

Rich Williams - May 30, 2012 - 8:31 am

Just adorable.

Jodi, Cam, and Kayla

It’s always great when an old friend gets in touch after a few years. I worked with Jodi at Starbucks for a number of years and we had some really good times slinging coffee together.

Her new family is amazing. Such love and connection between all of them. I couldn’t have had more fun hanging out and shooting them.

Chris DeAngelis - May 10, 2012 - 8:09 am

Nice work Heath! Great looking fam!

Jim Denham - May 10, 2012 - 8:15 am

Great shots. I love the visible bonding between the family

Andrea Coutu from Consultant Journal - May 27, 2012 - 11:25 am

Wow, I am just a casual visitor who happened upon your site. I just wanted to say that I was really struck by the set of photos for this family. There’s just something really tender about the composition you’ve selected. Without even consulting the notes, I had a good sense of their relationships with one another. Well done.

The First Hours

In an odd ‘one must die for the other to live’ type situation, my iMac died the day Rory was born. Hence the ridiculous lack of baby photos. I managed to get my fried hard drive replaced last week and finally have all the necessary applications and plugins re-installed so that I can get back to editing. So, this is my first real blog post dedicated to our new daughter, Rory.

I’m sure some of you may be interested in a full birth story, but I won’t bore the general public with that. If you need some gory details, just drop me a line and I’ll be more than happy to share. The quick and dirty story is that Brei had a very good labour and we ended up delivering the baby at home on our own bed with our amazing midwife. The shots you see below are of some of the home setup and then a few images of our little girl just minutes and hours after she was born.

Stephanie Scott - May 8, 2012 - 7:51 am

Congrats to you and Brei! Beautiful job catching those first moments when your lives changed forever ๐Ÿ™‚

Brian Furbush - May 8, 2012 - 9:10 am

Congrats dude! So happy for you and Brei! And beautiful shots of little Rory!

Jim Denham - May 8, 2012 - 9:29 am

Glad to see you back in business Heath! This must have been an amazing experience for you, especially being able to be at home. I absolutely LOVE the pic of her laying face down on the towel with her behind stuck in the air. Classic! Congrats bud, and hope that all stays well!

Jesse Pafundi - May 8, 2012 - 9:29 am

Finally! Love the images dude and congrats again.

Michael Tuuk - May 9, 2012 - 2:22 pm

Congrats! Glad it all went well and I love the pictures. We planned on a home birth with a midwife for our next child but all the “next” children ended up being adoptions…

Edith Levy - May 9, 2012 - 4:24 pm

Beautiful images Heath. Congratulations.
