A number of my photog friends have posted some pretty amazing shots of desert landscapes with a road as a foreground element, so I decided I’d give it a go while I was in Joshua Tree. I composed three or four shots like this at various locations around the park, and I think I like this one best.
Nicely done. Love how the road runs on and on!
Love the washed out colortones, reminds me a bit of my drive on Big Island – except everything was black!
Really enjoy how you didnt go the usual compose-in-the-middle route. Love the framing and harsh processing.
Love the framing on this!! I feel like I need a dune buggy this week! I’m really liking the processing your using on all these images this week.
I agree with Jesse – I am digging the shoulder perspective, it works really well. It’s really cool how the white line gets cut off and the wind-blown sand covering the road in the distance, this image speaks volumes!
I adore these long straight road shots with the yellow lines as it’s something I just don’t see in the UK. I’m also a sucker for the ‘straight down the middle’ shots, but am glad you tried something a little different. Love how the road bumps up and down appearing to dive under the sand towards the horizon.
Nicely done Heath! I really enjoy the shoulder shot a lot! A unique frame! Nailed it!
Well…there’s another Joshua Tree winner for you! The subtle vignette works for me, along with the (as echoed above) harsh processing & composition.
Another solid addition to this series, man. Love what you’re doing with it. Some Blue Dawn Leonidas?
You’ve very effectively achieved a feeling of desolation. But what’s up with that broken white line? More questions than answers in this beautiful image story.
rocking composition and as the others have said, the off centre works very well indeed.
Dude! The open road, endless possibilities! Nice one
