Last night I thought I would try something a little different. Inspired by a few people (Viveca Koh, Chris Nitz, and Doug Landreth), I decided to do some experimentation with textures and frames. The shot below is a mashup of a number of layered effects from PhotoTools, three textures at varying opacities (also from PhotoTools or PhotoFrame), and a border frame from PhotoFrame. This is a bit of an experiment, so I’d love to hear some feedback. I had a lot of fun playing around with textures and frames, so I can see myself processing photos in a similar fashion in the future.
This looks great Heath, I have yet to play with Textures. Nice work!
I dig the frame but Im unsure if this textures for this particular image are helping or hurting. I’d be interested to see a comparison to make a fair judgement 🙂
I like it a lot, dig the processing. Vintage feel but still vibrant. Frame is funky too.
I love the textures and framing with PhotoSuite…I used it on that London image for HDR Tennis and it was awesome.
Great job Heath!
Love the experimentation here, Heath. Really well-executed. I’m also on a composite kick after seeing Doug do his thing the other day.
Keep up the mad science.
I would love to do this kind of work, what a fabulous outcome!! Great image, in and of itself, Heath, but your processing really did add so much to the overall feeling.
I think it’s very creative and the textures are really cool. I looked at the image first before reading your post and was stopped in my tracks trying to figure out if that was the sky or some kind of fabric background 🙂 Very cool!
Awesome vintage colors and composition. Your lens flare is so integral to this photo. Great work, Heath!
Dude, I think you nailed this shot. I am a huge fan of textures and I really really like what you’ve done with this shot. Great job!
I think this image came out great! Love the vintage feel. I haven’t played with PhotoFrame or textures much either… Good work!
I love the effect! I love the vintage feel it gives the image. Do play more!
