Stairs – heath ofee dot com http://heathofee.com Sat, 30 Jul 2011 16:33:49 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 Daily Grind http://heathofee.com/2011/08/03/daily-grind-2/ http://heathofee.com/2011/08/03/daily-grind-2/#comments Wed, 03 Aug 2011 13:10:03 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2662 I see far too many moving staircases while at my 9-5. I figured it was time I captured one.

For what it’s worth, this was taken inside the Palliser South building, which has been featured quite prominently on my blog here, here, and here.

Jamieson Stairs http://heathofee.com/2011/02/15/jamieson-stairs/ http://heathofee.com/2011/02/15/jamieson-stairs/#comments Tue, 15 Feb 2011 13:53:57 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1787 Last night I decided to back through the shots I took during my brief time with the Canon 17mm tilt/shift lens. Most of the good shots I’ve already shared, but I did come across this shot of a stairway in the Jamieson Place building that I hadn’t shared yet. I really think the lens tilt in this shot helps guide your eye from the top of the stairs all the way to the bottom.

Stairway to… http://heathofee.com/2010/11/19/stairway-to/ http://heathofee.com/2010/11/19/stairway-to/#comments Fri, 19 Nov 2010 14:25:28 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1328 After finally finishing the last of my Lightroom data transfer to my iMac last night, I decided to sift through some of my old brackets from early this year to see if there was anything I missed or wanted to reprocess. As it turns out, there are probably a whole lot of images that could use some TLC! My HDR processing skills have increased quite a bit since earlier this year, and it was a bit painful looking at some of the images I had created.

This particular shot was a bit of a white balance nightmare. The natural light coming from the doorway behind the camera and the window at the top of the frame was at odds with the warm incandescent light coming from the light fixtures. I was able to deal with this by masking two copies of the same image together with different white balance values. Now that I know how to fix this problem, I will probably process some more shots from this cool old apartment building in Calgary!

Git Yer Lussier On! http://heathofee.com/2010/11/11/git-yer-lussier-on/ http://heathofee.com/2010/11/11/git-yer-lussier-on/#comments Thu, 11 Nov 2010 13:30:55 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1280 Okay, I don’t claim to be able to capture stairs the way the master does, but a guy can dream right? This photo was 100% inspired by my pal Bob Lussier (a.k.a. the Stair Whisperer), who has delivered some of the most epic stair photos you’ll ever encounter. While most of Bob’s stair images come from the amazing mills and urbex locations of the Boston area, this image of mine is from an old warehouse that was converted into a loft apartment building here in Calgary. There’s not a whole lot going on in this image, but I was drawn to the old brick wall and extra window pane sitting on the landing.
