What you see below is a homemade film panorama/triptych that I shot while in the Haleakala crater. The path you see is called Sliding Sands Trail and it will take you from the mouth of the crater all the way to the bottom if you’ve got the legs. I had been up since 3am to shoot sunrise from the top of the crater that morning, so I only made it partway down the trail – but it was an amazing experience. Once inside the crater, you can easily forget that you’re even on earth. The dry, rocky landscape is like nothing I’ve ever seen and I’m glad I was able to experience it.
