Last month I went for a hike with a couple dudes I’ve been friends with for over 25 years – crazy. Our plan was to hike Mt. Burke, but when we got to the turn off the highway the bridge across the river was closed due to damage from the summer floods. So we did what any adventurer would do – found the nearest pullout on the highway, picked a hill and walked as far up it as we could.

Obviously, we threw rocks into the river once we got back down.

Last Friday I embarked on a 4 day trip to Arizona where I met up with 4 great friends from around the US. We drove countless miles and saw some pretty amazing stuff – but I think the highlight of the trip was goofing around and shooting portraits in Sedona at sunrise. This is a frame of Jesse Pafundi from that morning.

I spent just over a week in Palm Springs at the end of November and managed to make a road trip to Phoenix for a weekend to help my buddy Mike Olbinski shoot a wedding. Being the great guy that he is, he let me shoot a roll of film. Here are a couple of frames taken with my Mamiya 645.

Here are a few frames from a family session I shot a couple of weeks ago in Stanley Park here in Calgary. I’d forgotten how beautiful that area was and of course it helped that we had some gorgeous light.

It’s always great when an old friend gets in touch after a few years. I worked with Jodi at Starbucks for a number of years and we had some really good times slinging coffee together.

Her new family is amazing. Such love and connection between all of them. I couldn’t have had more fun hanging out and shooting them.

I guess it’s time to finally make this news really official by posting it here on the blog. My wife and I are expecting our first child in April and we couldn’t be more excited

So, to show a bit of our progress here’s a photo of my wife’s growing belly that I shot this weekend. She’s just over 5 months in so there should be plenty more growth to document in the coming months.

I’ve known this amazing family since my days slinging coffee at Starbucks. Steph and Doug used to come in a few times a week and they were hands down among my favourite customers. I’m thankful that we’ve been able to keep in touch since my career as a barista ended, and I couldn’t have been happier to shoot them and their awesome kids a few weeks ago.
