It’s such an iconic location and there’s so much going on ALL THE TIME – I was amazed. So, I thought I’d try to show the somewhat chaotic atmosphere by presenting a triptych of somewhat abstract panoramas. On their own none of these shots are spectacular, but seen together I feel they really show the atmosphere of one of the worlds most recognizable places.

That’s not to say I’ve never taken photos at night before, but I’ve never attempted to capture a landscape in near pitch black before. The evening I arrived, we all made our way to the shores of Moraine Lake after the sun had set for some long exposures under the moonlight. Our images would have been a bit more dramatic had the moon made it’s way over the mountains on the left before we got too cold to continue, but I’m relatively happy with how this turned out. I was a bit unsure how to process this shot, so I ended up leaving it quite close to the way it came out of the camera – I’ll have to experiment some more with this type of photography.
