new york city – heath ofee dot com https://heathofee.com Tue, 06 Dec 2011 13:28:34 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 Times Square https://heathofee.com/2011/12/06/times-square/ https://heathofee.com/2011/12/06/times-square/#comments Tue, 06 Dec 2011 14:10:02 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=3904 It’s impossible to go to New York City and not come away with a few dozen shots of Times Square. It’s such an iconic location and there’s so much going on ALL THE TIME – I was amazed. So, I thought I’d try to show the somewhat chaotic atmosphere by presenting a triptych of somewhat abstract panoramas. On their own none of these shots are spectacular, but seen together I feel they really show the atmosphere of one of the worlds most recognizable places.

The Way I Saw It: V https://heathofee.com/2011/11/29/the-way-i-saw-it-v/ https://heathofee.com/2011/11/29/the-way-i-saw-it-v/#comments Tue, 29 Nov 2011 14:10:37 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=3830 This will likely be my last ‘collage’ post from New York City. Five instalments is decent and I feel like I have a pretty representative collection of images.

While I’ll still post an image here and there from New York, I feel like I’m closing the chapter on this trip – and I’m already itching for the next one. In January I’ll be heading to Palm Springs, CA where I’ll be spending some time in Joshua Tree National Park and perhaps visiting the Salton Sea area again. If anyone has some insight into other spots I should hit in the area, I’m definitely open to suggestions!

What started out as an experiment with a Holga 135 has turned into to a bit of an obsession. There are now 4 film cameras in my arsenal, and a small section of my fridge is dedicated to housing film. Crazy.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

Tickets? https://heathofee.com/2011/10/14/tickets/ https://heathofee.com/2011/10/14/tickets/#comments Fri, 14 Oct 2011 13:10:50 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=3517 No trip to New York City would be complete without a visit to Grand Central Terminal (don’t even THINK about calling it a ‘station’) – and my visit was absolutely amazing thanks to Steve Beal and Chris Robins. They managed to hook us up with tripod passes and a behind the scenes tour that took us to the control centre and the clocktower! Truly an amazing experience. In the coming weeks I should be sharing a couple of these behind the scenes images, but for today (since it is #FilmFriday, after all) I thought I’d share a simple composition from the main hall.

There was just something about the harsh light and shadows playing across these ticket windows that spoke to me. I can almost feel the history through this photograph and I think capturing it on film was a great way to do this amazing building justice. I hope you agree.
