This past Saturday afternoon the newly finished Peace Bridge in Calgary had its official opening. The Santiago Calatrava designed pedestrian bridge has been a number of years in the making, and its construction was wrought with controversy over missed timelines and budget issues. The city still seems split; some love it while others feel it was a great big waste of money (~25 million). Me? I think its gonna make for some great photographs, and below is the first of what I’m sure will be many studies of this interesting new icon.
Wow, that is a pretty awesome looking bridge! It looks to be in an interesting place though…is it more of a neighborhood? IN which case, it does seem like a lot of money for something other than a busy downtown area.
Very cool shots though Heath, you’re gonna have fun with it 🙂
Nice set Heath! Pretty neat looking bridge!
Great shots dude, really like the color tones. Will be pretty epic if it’s lit up at night as well 🙂
Looks pretty cool to me. Like you said, may make for a good backdrop for a future shoot. Great set man.
Great set of images! What a cool bridge. I would imagine this will be a very popular subject for Calgary area photographers!
Wow, cool looking bridge. I’m guessing it will make for some nice night time long exposures. I really like that first shot of it disappearing into the fog.
That’s a sweet looking bridge. Reminds of of an artery or something… Like the shots.
Very cool series of images Heath.
Wow! These are awesome, Heath. Interesting structure, and I like your choices for compositions.
Thats a great looking bridge and one that looks like it will get a lot of visits.
Amazing images,
Having never seen this before, I recently had a dream about a Canadian bridge similar to this one, but is spanned an entire Great Lake….
Hmm…this is too weird.
