On my second day in Waterton Lakes National Park, I woke up early and drove to Cameron Lake (~16 km from the town of Waterton) to catch the sunrise. I got there just as light was starting to break, but the real show didn’t start until a hour after I arrived. Due to the fact that the mountains are so close to the lake, the sun didn’t light up the far slopes until well after it had started to rise. I’m glad I waited around for the light because watching that warmth hit the mountains you see in this image was well worth it.

Gorgeous shot Heath – love the glassy still water and the foreground object to draw you in.
Amazing composition and balance of light. Just wow.
I’m so glad someone is asking people to fish off the dock, cuz I totally want to do that right now 😉 Totally loving this image man!
Man, this is awesome. Love the comp. Great work Heath.
That touch of green in the distance just completes the image.
Great shot Heath. The little No Fishing sign really adds to the image too!
Beautifully composed.
Wonderful shot today. Nice view, reflection and interest in the foreground. Way to go!
Fantastic image Heath! The darker hill sides really let the rocky peak and it’s reflection stand out.
Wonderful view! I like the strong foreground element also.
Wonderful composition! Love the foreground element!
Don’t know if you remember me but I met you while you were in Waterton shooting some pictures. You came in for some food at Trappers where I work. I got your card and just came across it the other day and thought I would take a look at your site. I’ve enjoyed going back and checking out your past work. Keep it up. I got you in my google reader now so I can see where else you’ll go and shoot. Cheers.
