Tilt/Shift Effect – heath ofee dot com http://heathofee.com Fri, 11 Mar 2011 13:56:09 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 Purple http://heathofee.com/2011/03/11/purple/ http://heathofee.com/2011/03/11/purple/#comments Fri, 11 Mar 2011 13:56:09 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1996 During my one evening at Bombay Beach, I unwittingly composed and shot almost the exact same scene at two different times. The first was while the sun was still up, although low in the sky and the second was after the sun had set about 30 minutes later. I didn’t realize I had duplicated the scene until I started processing the photo you see below yesterday afternoon.

While I still enjoy the first image of the scene, I absolutely LOVE this version. I opted for a cooler colour palette to accentuate the blues and purples and used FocalPoint to blur out some of the foreground to really lead the viewer to the old stanchions in the water. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.

Mini Zamboni http://heathofee.com/2011/01/10/mini-zamboni/ http://heathofee.com/2011/01/10/mini-zamboni/#comments Mon, 10 Jan 2011 14:04:51 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1549 Yesterday I went to the Calgary Flames Superskills Competition with my dad, sister, bro-in-law, and two nephews. It was the kids’ first time watching hockey live, so it was pretty cool to see them enjoy it, and was a great experience for them.

After seeing this shot from my buddy Jesse Pafundi a while back, I knew I wanted to see if I could get my camera in the door so that I could take a similar shot of the Saddledome. Surprisingly enough, I was able to get my gear bag in the door without any trouble…I guess security wasn’t too concerned about photography during the skills competition. So, after the warm up and before the action started, I made my way up to the top of the second bowl and fired off a few shots while the Zamboni was cleaning the ice. While I did make my way back up a little later to attempt some brackets, I was happier with this single exposure. As usual, I brought this shot into PhotoTools for a bit of tweaking and then I sent it to FocalPoint to give it the fun tilt/shift effect. I think this is a fun shot, and I’m glad I have a shot of the Saddledome in my catalogue now.
