Circular Entrance

This is the entrance to Tao restaurant in the Venetian hotel in Vegas. We didn’t eat there on our visit earlier this year, but I thought the concentric circles leading to the doors at the end of the entrance made for a pretty cool photo.

The Ranche

Well, Stampede week is coming to a close here in Calgary and it was a pretty slack one at work. The office was virtually empty by noon each day which meant I was able to get out early almost all week. I managed to use some of that time to head out and take some much needed photos! Growing up in the southwest of Calgary, I frequented Fish Creek Park quite a bit and became quite familiar with a lot of it. One area I never made it to was the Bow Valley Ranch, so I decided to make a trip there after work this past Thursday. It turned out to be a great spot to snap some brackets for HDR…especially the ranch itself which has been turned into a very nice restaurant simple called ‘The Ranche’. I won’t give you the whole history here but if you’re interested you can read all about by following this link.

An Engagement in Las Vegas

It’s official, I’m engaged!! Brei and I took a trip to Las Vegas for the first five days in May and I popped the question while we were down there. I had a hard time finding the right spot to do it (there aren’t many places where two people can be alone in Las Vegas!) but we got an opportunity to have Fiamma (an Italian restaurant in MGM Grand) all to ourselves so I jumped at the chance and asked for Brei’s hand in marriage there.

The ambiance and decor in Fiamma is absolutely amazing and made for a wonderful place to propose. To make sure Brei would be surprised, I got her into the restaurant under the guise of me getting the chance to photograph the place. I won’t tell the whole story here, but I will show you the spot in which I proposed:
