Antelope Canyon was so impressive. The curved, striated rock and those crazy light beams were truly something to behold. Photos don’t really do it justice.

Back in November I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding down in Phoenix, AZ with a good friend, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one to be a part of. I had such an amazing time and I can’t thank Emma and Brian enough for being so welcoming to this Canadian kid.

Back in August I was given the opportunity to second shoot a wedding for the first time with my buddy Jason over at Crush Photography. We ended up with a perfect late summer day and we had so much fun with Tammie, Chris, and their entire group. By the end of the night we all just felt like old friends hanging out.

Oh, and the girl doing one handed pushups on the dancefloor? Yeah, so good.

I met Simon and Megan through the co-ed soccer team that my wife and I play on a few years ago. They are truly two of the nicest people I know, and I’m glad to be able to number them among my friends. Just over a year ago they welcomed their ridiculously cute son, Savio into the world and I was more than happy to shoot some portraits for them a couple of weeks ago.

Autumn is just so darned beautiful.

Here are a few frames from a family session I shot a couple of weeks ago in Stanley Park here in Calgary. I’d forgotten how beautiful that area was and of course it helped that we had some gorgeous light.

Easter Seals Drop Zone 2012

Last Thursday I was part of a team of volunteer photographers covering the Easter Seals Drop Zone here in Calgary. Over 100 participants (mostly dressed as superheroes) who raised a minimum of $1500 each rappelled 30 stories down the side of the Sun Life Tower in support of Easter Seals. The goal this year was to raise $200,000 and they absolutely blew that out of the water reaching a total of over $300,000!

I was lucky enough to be placed on the roof all day to shoot the participants as they were getting clipped in and made the first few terrifying steps down the building. It was pretty amazing to watch some of the superheroes conquer their fears and I can’t say enough positive things about the climbing support team from RAT and Crux Climbing and Bouldering. The entire team was so fun and supportive and made me feel completely safe while I was clipped in to the roof all day.

Big thanks to Jason over at Crush Photography who organized all of us photographers for the day – you did a great job, buddy!
