I decided on a shot of my oldest nephew. The title of the post may not seem to make sense when looking at this adorable face…but believe me, this shot is one in a million with this guy. Whenever the camera is pointed at him, he likes to either run away or make a frowny face…perhaps this is typical behaviour for a two-and-a-half year old Regardless, I’m very pleased that I was able to get a great headshot of the little guy, and even more pleased that there’s a hint of a smile on his face.

Inspired by a few people (Viveca Koh, Chris Nitz, and Doug Landreth), I decided to do some experimentation with textures and frames. The shot below is a mashup of a number of layered effects from PhotoTools, three textures at varying opacities (also from PhotoTools or PhotoFrame), and a border frame from PhotoFrame. This is a bit of an experiment, so I’d love to hear some feedback. I had a lot of fun playing around with textures and frames, so I can see myself processing photos in a similar fashion in the future.
