Industrial – heath ofee dot com http://heathofee.com Thu, 04 Jul 2013 19:52:26 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 fraser+lisa http://heathofee.com/2011/07/19/fraserlisa-calgary-engagement-shoot/ http://heathofee.com/2011/07/19/fraserlisa-calgary-engagement-shoot/#comments Tue, 19 Jul 2011 13:10:50 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2792 This past Friday I had the pleasure of shooting an engagement session for one of my longest standing friends here in Calgary. I’ve known Fraser since we were both in elementary school and we’ve remained close ever since. A while back I promised them a photoshoot, and although it’s getting a bit late now (they’re getting married in two weeks!), I figured it’s better late than never. I had an absolute blast shooting these two and I hope you enjoy viewing these images as much as I enjoyed shooting them.

Ropes and Rails http://heathofee.com/2011/01/02/ropes-and-rails/ http://heathofee.com/2011/01/02/ropes-and-rails/#comments Sun, 02 Jan 2011 14:59:19 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1488 Today I’m sharing another shot from my trip to the Ogden industrial area here in Calgary. This is right in front of the ADM Milling shop just off Ogden road. I was drawn to this yellow box overflowing with ropes because it provided a great splash of warm colour in an otherwise very cool scene. Looking for contrast like this is something that I’ve started to pay a bit more attention to, and I’ve found it can make images much more compelling.

It was kind of a gloomy day, and there wasn’t much interest in the background, so I applied some blur in onOne’s Focalpoint 2 to really draw attention to the box. I also selectively boosted the yellow a bit really make the box the focal point of the image.

Abstract Symmetry http://heathofee.com/2010/11/04/abstract-symmetry/ http://heathofee.com/2010/11/04/abstract-symmetry/#comments Thu, 04 Nov 2010 12:49:21 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1240 Well, I worked on this image late last night just before heading to bed, and I seem to remember being happy with it. However, looking at it this morning, I feel like it could use a bit more cleaning up. There still appears to be a bit of haloing around the top of the tanks, and there’s a weird artifact at the top of the left stair railing.

What do you guys think? Still need a bit of work? Do you notice the same things I do? Any and all feedback is welcome!

Diesel in Symmetry http://heathofee.com/2010/10/09/diesel-in-symmetry/ http://heathofee.com/2010/10/09/diesel-in-symmetry/#comments Sat, 09 Oct 2010 16:18:45 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1143 I think I have a problem. I seem to have quite the obsession with shooting into the setting sun at narrow apertures…those sunbursts are just so much fun! I think I’ve made a point of shooting sunbursts on the last three photo outings I’ve been on and I don’t see me quitting anytime soon. They’re really fun to edit and they add a little bit of extra interest if placed in the right spot in an image. I trust my friends will let me know if my sunbursts start getting a little old 🙂

After work this past Thursday, I hit a couple locations on the way home to take a few shots. Inspired by my friends Brian Matiash and Bob Lussier, I knew at some point I wanted to hit the industrial area here in Calgary to see if I could find anything at least half as cool as the some of the old mills these guys get to shoot in Boston. I think I made a couple good finds, and I’ll definitely be sharing more of those shots in the coming weeks, but for now here’s a little diesel in symmetry for ya.
