I thought I’d switch things up for the last day of the week. While I have quite a few images shot on film from my time in Hawaii, I stumbled across this one and just couldn’t pass it up. Enjoy #FilmFriday

If you’re wondering exactly what camera I used to take this shot, it’s a Holga 135. I’m loving it so far, and the more I use it the more imperfections I start to get…which is the whole idea of shooting with a Holga, right?

For today’s #FilmFriday, I thought I’d post another shot from my trip to Drumheller a few weeks ago. I think these cracked hills and valleys are the perfect subject for my Holga…the colours come out great and you get that real sense of nostalgia in the photograph.

Since I got my Holga 135, I’ve been waiting to see some of those famous Holga light leaks appear on a frame. A couple of weeks ago I got what I asked for…a nice red/orange streak through a part of the frame.

Man, the weeks are just whizzing by these days…I can’t believe it’s already time for another edition of #FilmFriday! This week is extra special because I have the distinct pleasure of introducing a new partner in Film Friday crime, Jesse Pafundi. Jesse is an amazing photographer and an even better friend. I’ve come to know him quite well over the past number of months through Twitter, IM and Skype, and I can tell you that he is one of the good guys. I’ve had the pleasure of watching his photographic style and vision develop into what it is today, and watching this growth has been nothing short of inspirational. I couldn’t be happier to have Jesse joining me for #FilmFriday. Please check out his shot here.

I recently took a short day trip out to Drumheller, Alberta to photograph the badlands in the area. It wasn’t a particularly fruitful day of shooting with the DSLR, but I was quite happy with the few Holga shots I took…a couple of which you can see below. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Gone Fishin’

I’m not a fisherman, but I can definitely see the appeal of it. People always look so at peace when fishing, like nothing else in the world matters at that moment. I guess it’s kinda like how I feel when I’m off on my own shooting…completely absorbed in the moment and the craft, just enjoying life. Have a great weekend, everyone. #FilmFriday

I realize I’ve been loading the blog with images from Lake Minnewanka this week, but I just couldn’t resist posting this shot for #FilmFriday. While I was taking some long exposures, I snapped a few shots with the Holga, and this is by far the best. I just can’t get enough of that amazing light on the mountainside.

Our Tower

Time for the 3rd installment of #FilmFriday here on the blog. Today, the first urban shot I’ve posted from my Holga.

For anyone who lives in or has visited Calgary, this should be a familiar sight. For those of you who have never been to my hometown, this is a view from below the Calgary Tower, the most recognizable piece of architecture in the city. While it may not be as tall or impressive as the CN Tower in Toronto or the Space Needle in Seattle, it’s our tower, and we’re proud of it.
