Grassi Lakes – heath ofee dot com http://heathofee.com Fri, 20 May 2011 12:20:21 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 Two Roads… http://heathofee.com/2011/05/20/two-roads/ http://heathofee.com/2011/05/20/two-roads/#comments Fri, 20 May 2011 13:10:04 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2341 Welcome to what I hope will be a weekly feature on the blog I’m calling ‘Film Friday’. Since I was recently gifted with a Holga 135, I decided I should probably showcase at least one photo from this cool toy camera every week. The shots I post here on Fridays will be straight negative scans of the film with no modifications…what’s the point of buying a toy camera for all the imperfections if you just fix them in post? I hope you enjoy my little foray back into the realm of film photography!

This shot is from my day trip to Grassi Lakes last week. Upon entering the trail head just up from the parking lot, one is greeted with this sign. Which way do you find yourself leaning when given this choice on a daily basis?

Holga 135, Fujifilm Superia 200

Mossy Flow http://heathofee.com/2011/05/13/mossy-flow/ http://heathofee.com/2011/05/13/mossy-flow/#comments Fri, 13 May 2011 13:10:52 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2334 I took the day off work on Wednesday and used my time to drive out to the mountains for a bit of a photo excursion. On the recommendation from a co-worker, I made my way to Grassi Lakes which is just around the corner from the Canmore Nordic Centre where all the cross-country skiing events were held during the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. After a short hike, I reached the two small lakes, and the colour was just amazing. Both mountain lakes shone with a rich blue/green hue…it really was beautiful. However, what I really wanted to shoot was the waterfall just slightly downstream from these lakes…so I made my way down to where I could hear running water found exactly what I was looking for. Water tumbled down a steep cliff face and cascaded around old fallen logs and mossy rocks. Jackpot.
