Inspired by a few people (Viveca Koh, Chris Nitz, and Doug Landreth), I decided to do some experimentation with textures and frames. The shot below is a mashup of a number of layered effects from PhotoTools, three textures at varying opacities (also from PhotoTools or PhotoFrame), and a border frame from PhotoFrame. This is a bit of an experiment, so I’d love to hear some feedback. I had a lot of fun playing around with textures and frames, so I can see myself processing photos in a similar fashion in the future.

When I found this lone tree sitting behind a barbed wire fence, I knew immediately that I wanted to compose a shot like this. Finding that exact spot where I was able to get the tree right between the two middle strands of wire and still be able to include two fenceposts took a bit of moving around, but as soon as I had it composed I knew it was a winner. Hopefully you all agree!
