Fall – heath ofee dot com http://heathofee.com Fri, 05 Jul 2013 16:29:14 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 fernandes family http://heathofee.com/2012/10/09/savio/ http://heathofee.com/2012/10/09/savio/#comments Tue, 09 Oct 2012 13:25:16 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=4913 I met Simon and Megan through the co-ed soccer team that my wife and I play on a few years ago. They are truly two of the nicest people I know, and I’m glad to be able to number them among my friends. Just over a year ago they welcomed their ridiculously cute son, Savio into the world and I was more than happy to shoot some portraits for them a couple of weeks ago.

Autumn is just so darned beautiful.

Lily http://heathofee.com/2012/09/25/lily/ http://heathofee.com/2012/09/25/lily/#comments Tue, 25 Sep 2012 13:55:28 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=4841 Here are a few frames from a family session I shot a couple of weeks ago in Stanley Park here in Calgary. I’d forgotten how beautiful that area was and of course it helped that we had some gorgeous light.

Oh, and Lily is pretty cute, too 😉

The Colours http://heathofee.com/2012/09/20/the-colours/ http://heathofee.com/2012/09/20/the-colours/#comments Thu, 20 Sep 2012 13:55:24 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=4815 I had a few minutes before a family shoot last night so I grabbed a few quick frames of the swiftly turning leaves here in Calgary. Autumn is fleeting here, but the short time we get is beautiful.

The Neeks: Calgary Family Photographer http://heathofee.com/2011/11/01/calgary-family-photographer-2/ http://heathofee.com/2011/11/01/calgary-family-photographer-2/#comments Tue, 01 Nov 2011 13:10:47 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=3626 A couple weeks ago I had some friends give me a call on a Friday night wondering if I could do a quick mini family session for them the next day as they were looking for a few photos they could use for Christmas cards. I gladly obliged as I knew I would have a ton of fun with their two kids.

Bowness Park proved to be an awesome location as there were still a bunch of trees that had yet to lose their leaves providing some awesome colour for the shoot. Gotta love that autumn colour!

Fish Creek Park: Calgary Family Photographer http://heathofee.com/2011/10/03/calgary-family-photographer/ http://heathofee.com/2011/10/03/calgary-family-photographer/#comments Mon, 03 Oct 2011 13:10:01 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=3398 Last week marked the third year in a row that I’ve photographed this family – and it gets more fun each time. The energy of these three girls is infectious and I can’t help but have a great time whenever I’m shooting them.

Watching these three grow over the years has been fantastic, and I can’t wait to capture their smiling faces again next year 🙂

Fall Begins http://heathofee.com/2011/09/30/fall-begins/ http://heathofee.com/2011/09/30/fall-begins/#comments Fri, 30 Sep 2011 13:10:41 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=3384 Well, actually, fall is almost over here in Calgary. As the temperature starts to drop here, the leaves change colour very quickly and begin to fall of the trees within a week or two. The beauty of autumn is definitely fleeting. With any luck I’ll be able to grab a few more decent shots before the colours disappear for good.

As a few of you may know, I picked up a medium format film camera at the end of last week – and of course I fired off a roll of film within the first two days. I scanned the first batch of negatives last night and was quite pleased with the results. The larger format yields some very high resolution images and I was very happy with the image quality of the 80mm f/2.8 lens I’m using. Out of my growing collection of film cameras, I can see myself shooting with this most often.

Catherine and Andrew http://heathofee.com/2010/10/28/catherine-and-andrew/ http://heathofee.com/2010/10/28/catherine-and-andrew/#comments Thu, 28 Oct 2010 12:57:28 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1216 I’ve something a little different to share today. A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting some lifestyle photos for a colleague of mine and her husband. They missed out on the engagement photo train before they got hitched, and they wanted some photos in that style…and I was more than happy to help out!

We did the shoot in Fish Creek Park just as the sun was setting over the hills, and although we missed a bit of the sunset, we still got some great shots. I had an absolute blast hanging out and shooting with Catherine and Andrew, and had even more fun editing the shots. Smiles come easy to these two, and there were some pretty funny outtakes. For now, here are a few of my favourites from the shoot.

The Longest Shadow http://heathofee.com/2010/10/14/the-longest-shadow/ http://heathofee.com/2010/10/14/the-longest-shadow/#comments Thu, 14 Oct 2010 12:43:07 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1170 It’s gotta be one of the best feelings in the world for any photographer when you take a shot, look at the LCD, and instantly know you’ve got something great. If I can can come away from a shoot with one set of brackets like that, I am a very happy camper. This doesn’t happen for me every time I go out shooting, but last week when I was at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, there was one set of brackets that I knew would work out.

The long shadows, winding pathway, autumn colours, and low sun just all magically lined up for me to take this shot. This was the last set of brackets I shot at the sanctuary that day, and I wouldn’t have gotten this shot if I hadn’t convinced myself to keep elxploring after completing a circle of half the park. Always listen to your gut. Often times it’ll give you good advice.
