Including an interesting element into the foreground of a photograph can add a great bit of punch to a shot, and is sometimes overlooked. I was lucky to spot this huge orange rock and be able to incorporate it into my frame. Next time you’re out shooting, look for something interesting to place in the foreground of your frame to add some extra interest.
Growing up in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Fish Creek Park was a pillar of natural beauty for me as a kid. Going back now brings back memories of countless bike rides, skipping rocks with my dad, and having picnic lunches with family and friends. When I’m lucky enough to have my own kids, I know we’ll be spending some quality time in the park, just like I did.
This shot was from my photowalk in Fish Creek Park earlier this summer and as soon as I saw that tree trunk in the middle of the creek, I knew I had to get a shot of it. Fish Creek Park is somewhere I will definitely be visiting once all the leaves start to turn for autumn…it should be really beautiful.
