Cafe – heath ofee dot com http://heathofee.com Tue, 28 Feb 2012 03:29:27 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 Espresso http://heathofee.com/2011/04/11/espresso/ http://heathofee.com/2011/04/11/espresso/#comments Mon, 11 Apr 2011 13:10:10 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=2179 I have such great memories from my time in Venice, and one of the best was the morning of our arrival. We took an overnight train from Rome to Venice and arrived in the city just before sunrise. That morning, we basically had the place to ourselves. Nothing was open yet and the streets and alleys were silent and deserted…it was such a peaceful few hours.

When the cafes finally started to open, we stopped at the first one we could find for a quick breakfast and an espresso. This shot of my (at the time) girlfriend (now my wife) really captures the feeling we had both had that morning. Beautiful light and empty streets in one of the most unique cities in the world.

Salton Sea – Cafe http://heathofee.com/2011/03/03/salton-sea-cafe/ http://heathofee.com/2011/03/03/salton-sea-cafe/#comments Thu, 03 Mar 2011 13:20:56 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1927 Well, I think this series is finally coming to a close. I should be able to squeak out one more image for tomorrow to finish things up on a Friday, but from here on out you probably won’t see any more from the Salton Sea area processed in the same fashion as what you’ve seen this week. I have quite a few sets of brackets from the area that I want to process as HDR and stylize a bit differently than this series.

One thing I learned during my trip to this area is that you never know what location will provide you with amazing photographic opportunities. I spent a good amount of time looking through photos of the Salton Sea on Flickr before I left, and the one place I was most excited about visiting was Bombay Beach. While I did get some great shots there, I found quite a few other unexpected locations that yielded some pretty amazing photographs. So make sure you don’t have blinders on when visiting a new location. Keep your eyes open because you never know what hidden gems can be found if you just take your time.

Salton Sea – RV Park http://heathofee.com/2011/01/30/salton-sea-rv-park/ http://heathofee.com/2011/01/30/salton-sea-rv-park/#comments Sun, 30 Jan 2011 17:47:52 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1663 I think this will be the last image in the first portion of this barren Salton Sea series. I think I have some more to add, but I have an itch to get back to processing some HDR’s. Hope you’ve enjoyed the series so far!

Take a Seat http://heathofee.com/2011/01/24/take-a-seat/ http://heathofee.com/2011/01/24/take-a-seat/#comments Mon, 24 Jan 2011 14:08:15 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1618 First day back at the office after my week off is shaping up to be a super busy one, so just a really quick post today.

This is a shot from what I think is an old diner in Salton Sea Beach. Definitely the most bird crap I’ve ever walked around in 🙂

Cafe Tables http://heathofee.com/2010/09/05/cafe-tables/ http://heathofee.com/2010/09/05/cafe-tables/#respond Sun, 05 Sep 2010 22:17:45 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1028 I spent a bit of time going through my photos from Italy again last night. Seeing all of the wonderful history really makes me ready for another European vacation, although I’m not sure that’s going to happen any time soon (it’s on my list though!).

One thing I’ve noticed going back through these photos is how different my style of photography was a year ago. Interestingly enough, I think it mostly has to do with the lenses I had in my bag at that point in time…a 24-105L and a 70-200L. For most of the trip I had my trusty 24-105 glued to my 50D, and I think that lens really helped shape what kind of shots I was able to get in Italy. Since then I’ve sold my 70-200L and bought a Sigma 10-20mm…the latter is what I shoot with most often now and I know it’s had a big impact on my style of photography. What are your thoughts…has the gear in your bag ever changed your style of photography?
