Brooks – heath ofee dot com http://heathofee.com Fri, 12 Nov 2010 13:26:15 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.6 Framed http://heathofee.com/2010/11/12/framed/ http://heathofee.com/2010/11/12/framed/#comments Fri, 12 Nov 2010 13:26:15 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1293 Finding a foreground element to use as a frame for the rest of an image is a cool way to add some extra interest to a scene. When I found this lone tree sitting behind a barbed wire fence, I knew immediately that I wanted to compose a shot like this. Finding that exact spot where I was able to get the tree right between the two middle strands of wire and still be able to include two fenceposts took a bit of moving around, but as soon as I had it composed I knew it was a winner. Hopefully you all agree!

Brooks Aqueduct http://heathofee.com/2010/09/28/brooks-aqueduct/ http://heathofee.com/2010/09/28/brooks-aqueduct/#respond Tue, 28 Sep 2010 16:03:18 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1087 The Brooks Aqueduct has been on my short list of locations in Alberta to photograph for quite some time now and two weekends ago I found the time to make the ~2 hour drive to Brooks in search of this National Historic Site. Unfortunately, the aqueduct was quite poorly signed and the map on their website was nowhere near detailed enough…but after a little bit of Googling on my phone I eventually found my way there.

I won’t go into the details of the history behind the aqueduct (you can find that here) but I will say it was built over 90 years ago and was once a water-carrying lifeline for southern Alberta. Very cool to see a piece of my province’s history.
