Sometimes HDR is not necessary for an image to have impact, and I feel like this is a good example of that. HDR would have brought out all the detail in the buildings instead of letting them fall into complete silhouette.

Now, I’m not entirely sure what buildings these are in Rome. I do remember shooting this just down the street from the Coliseum, so if any of you know what we’re looking at here, feel free to drop a comment to let me know!

Antix Caboose http://heathofee.com/2010/10/07/antix-caboose/ http://heathofee.com/2010/10/07/antix-caboose/#comments Thu, 07 Oct 2010 14:59:49 +0000 http://heathofee.com/?p=1141 This is another shot from my trip to Invermere back in August. Brei’s family has a place there, so we try to get out as often as possible during the summer and fall months. In the summer, water sports dominate the local lake and there are plenty of fantastic golf courses in and around the Invermere area for those of us who don’t enjoy the water as much. When out there, I’m usually in full relaxation mode and don’t often get out to shoot many brackets, but the weather was less than ideal back in August so I felt the need to fill up a bit of my weekend with some shooting. Most of the decent shots I got were from along the train tracks along one edge of the lake, so I thought I’d share another one with you today.

My Mazdaspeed 3 http://heathofee.com/2010/04/04/my-mazdaspeed-3/ http://heathofee.com/2010/04/04/my-mazdaspeed-3/#comments Sun, 04 Apr 2010 20:38:36 +0000 http://yycofee.wordpress.com/?p=689 A couple of posts ago I briefly mentioned that I had taken some photos of my Mazdaspeed 3 in the parkade of the Suncor Energy Centre but I wasn’t too pleased with them because of the crummy car wash I got before taking the shots. Well, after a lot of work in post-processing I finally have one ready to show…and I’m relatively pleased with how it turned out. Let me know what you think because I’ve been staring at it for too long and in too much detail to really tell if it actually looks good 😉

The details: 3 exposure HDR tonemapped in Photomatix, color correction, contrast and clarity in Lightroom, a bit of burning and cloning in Photoshop, and noise reduction using Noiseware (yup, way too much processing…but it was fun and a good learning experience).
