This is a close-up of one of the many busts on display in the Coliseum in Rome. I probably should have written down whose likeness this is when taking the photo, but I didn’t…so we’ll just say it’s a famous Roman emperor I decided to send this single RAW image through Photomatix Pro to see what kind of extra detail I could bring out. Even with only one exposure it did a great job of accentuating the textures and age in the stone. I then used onOne Phototools to help define the shadows and highlights to add a bit more punch. Hope you like this ‘in-your-face’ image
]]>The picture below is a set of 3 handheld brackets of the amazing ceiling installation in the lobby of the Bellagio. All the glass sculpture is done by Dale Chihuly and you can find a few more of his masterpieces around Las Vegas…they really are quite stunning.
]]>The details: 3 exposure HDR tonemapped in Photomatix, Lightroom for contrast and clarity, Noiseware for noise reduction.
Oh, I have to throw out a hat tip to Chelsey over at Wishing Star Photography who brought this cool piece of art to my attention. Thanks Chelsey!
]]>This is a 3 shot HDR (-2, 0, +2) processed in Photomatix with some small adjustments in Lightroom.
Let me know what you think of the processing…it might be a bit heavy but I think I like the effect. Also, this photo has a bit too much noise for my liking but the noise reduction algorithms in Lightroom don’t seem to be very powerful. Does anyone know if Photoshop is better for this?? Or should I just suck it up and get myself a copy of NoiseWare??
