Mamiya 645 | Ilford XP2 400
]]>I won’t get too nitty gritty with the details, but I will say this: metering with an iPhone + manual focus + lefts and rights flipped = a pretty good learning experience! I’ll likely want to try this again, so if anyone in the Calgary area is reading this let me know if you’re interested.
Shot with a Mamiya 645 1000s/80mm 2.8 on Kodak Portra film.
]]>As a few of you may know, I picked up a medium format film camera at the end of last week – and of course I fired off a roll of film within the first two days. I scanned the first batch of negatives last night and was quite pleased with the results. The larger format yields some very high resolution images and I was very happy with the image quality of the 80mm f/2.8 lens I’m using. Out of my growing collection of film cameras, I can see myself shooting with this most often.

What you see below is a homemade film panorama/triptych that I shot while in the Haleakala crater. The path you see is called Sliding Sands Trail and it will take you from the mouth of the crater all the way to the bottom if you’ve got the legs. I had been up since 3am to shoot sunrise from the top of the crater that morning, so I only made it partway down the trail – but it was an amazing experience. Once inside the crater, you can easily forget that you’re even on earth. The dry, rocky landscape is like nothing I’ve ever seen and I’m glad I was able to experience it.
Equipment:
– Canon FT-b Film SLR
– Canon 50mm 1.4 FD Mount
– Fujifilm Superia 200
If you’re wondering exactly what camera I used to take this shot, it’s a Holga 135. I’m loving it so far, and the more I use it the more imperfections I start to get…which is the whole idea of shooting with a Holga, right?
]]>Imperfection. I love it. #FilmFriday
]]>You may recognize this little guy from the family shoot I did a few weeks ago. I didn’t fire off as many frames with the Holga as I was planning, but I managed a few good ones
]]>I recently took a short day trip out to Drumheller, Alberta to photograph the badlands in the area. It wasn’t a particularly fruitful day of shooting with the DSLR, but I was quite happy with the few Holga shots I took…a couple of which you can see below. Hope you all have a great weekend!
