While I was in Waterton National Park last week, I experienced two very different days. When I arrived on Tuesday morning, the entire area was socked in with low cloud and it looked as though it could rain at any moment. I was a little disappointed, but as it turned out those low clouds around the mountains made for some very dramatic images – like the one you see below of Upper Waterton Lake.
The next morning I awoke before sunrise to completely cloudless skies – quite the dramatic transformation in weather overnight. Next week I’ll share a couple images from the second day of my trip so you can see the difference.
Equipment:
– Canon EOS 5D Mark II
– Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L
– B+W 77mm Circular Polarizer
What a stunning wide angle, I love the look of the clouds on top of the mountain!
Dude this is an awesome shot. The contrast with the rocks and that blue water is amazing.
what a lovely composition. Great contrast on the rocks and branch in the foreground.
This is incredible. One of your best, ever. The low composition, layers of clouds, foreground rocks and wood (light and dark), smooth water. Please print this.
This is a such a peaceful and gorgeous setting. It is a shame I want to make noise by skipping rocks across the water!
This is just intense! Really love the motion in the clouds and curve of the rocky shoreline.
So much going on in this I love it all. Lots to look at. Nice comp and including the deadwood.
This is so good Heath!!! I’m glad it was all murky and stormy.
The water is like glass…beautiful.
This ia an awesome scene! Love the clouds and you’ve made a wonderful composition! I need to go there next time I come up.
