Goodyear – heath ofee dot com

As I become more familiar with the post-processing tools at my disposal, I find myself leaning towards a group of the same effects on a regular basis. I’ve come to know what these tools will do for my images, I enjoy the results, and I feel using similar post-processing techniques on most of my images helps me to develop a unique ‘style’. That being said, I don’t want to get into a rut where I just stick to what I know and don’t explore all of the other great options that are out there.

While the myriad of processing options may seem daunting sometimes, it is important to continue to experiment in order to further our growth as photographers/post-processors. Even if it means trying something new and NOT liking it, at least you can say you gave it a shot. What is there to lose? Storage is cheap, so experiment as much as possible!

  1. Amen to that my friend. As soon as I find myself doing the same thing over and over I try to shake it up and usually find something new I like. Great framing on this one, the tire almost looks 3D.

  2. I find myself torn between the same impulses myself, leaning towards a core set to develop a style, while remembering to mix in new techniques on occasion to keep things fresh.

  3. Great post Heath – very easy to get stuck in a rut processing-wise and use the same tools over and over again as you get comfortable with them. Difficult to break out of the mold, but usually worth it! I agree with what everyone else has said – I like the pop of color on the tire, and I actually really like the white glow from the door & windows in the background. Thanks for sharing buddy!

  4. Nice image Heath and wise words. I too have been experimenting a bit, trying this and that, so as to avoid a “rut” so to speak. I believe that I specialize in not specializing haha. Well done! Jim
