Last week I posted one of the many shots I took of the decrepit pier that was conveniently on the beach of our resort. Today I’m sharing another shot of the same pier, but this image was shot using my 10-stop ND filter. I really love how the super long exposures (4 minutes in this case) create motion in the clouds and completely glass over the waves of the ocean. I’m still trying to get a feel for the filter, but I’m pretty pleased with how this shot turned out.
I really need to get me one of those 10-stops…but we just don’t have any oceans nearby out here in the desert 🙂 Love the shot, the composition, everything.
Personally, I’d love to see this in B&W…just to give it a nice moodiness. But then again, I’m a B&W kick lately.
Awesome work Heath! The tones are awesome!
Wow, Heath! That is awesome! I, like Mike, need me one of those filters!
Spectacular color & mood! 🙂
You nailed it. So far your 10 stop work has been really impressive!
Can’t get enough of long exposures. This is a great one.
Silky smooth ocean and clouds! Love the colors!
I think it’s completely astounding! I really do love the way the ND filter smooths out the clouds and water, you’ve done a perfect job of using that to capture this utterly astonishing photo my friend! My wife and I saw a decaying pier the other day and I immediately thought of your post from last week, I am looking forward to going back and grabbin’ that while the grabbin’ is good. Great photo, Heath!!
Great shot, Heath! How did you get the gulls to stand still so long? Ha! Great Job!
Wonderful shot here, Heath. Nice job using the 3.0 ND to get that cloud movement.
My only thing is that the horizon looks just slightly off counterclockwise. But, it could just be my crooked head. 🙂
Sorry for the late post, I was at my travel agent booking my 2nd honeymoon – that pier is gonna cost me some beans 🙂 Beauty of a shot Heath, that ND is awesome!
Love it dude! One of my favorite things about the ND110 is it makes me feel like a mad scientist.
I had a great time shooting this pier, so I appreciate all the positive comments.
